Microsoft wrapped up its show at E3 2021 with a rather cool announcement: a mini-fridge shaped like the Xbox Series X, which the company promised to make after defeating Skittles in a Twitter poll, will be released in Holiday 2021.
Microsoft promises the Xbox Mini Fridge (the official name) is "the world's most powerful mini fridge," a clear take on one of the company's key marketing points for the Xbox Series X console. But Microsoft took the joke further, highlighting the "Xbox Velocity". Cooling Architecture" for the refrigerator (a pun on the "Velocity Architecture" for the Xbox Series X) in a trailer.
When the Xbox Series X was first announced in 2019, people immediately remembered its boxy shape and compared it to a refrigerator — an idea Microsoft eventually based on social media. And the Xbox Mini Fridge isn't actually the first Xbox Series X-shaped refrigerator. The company introduced a true full-size refrigerator in the Series X shape in November.
